Gabriele Stötzer: Touching the Spirits (Spector Books, 2026) traces the German artist’s practice, which emerged from the underground art scene of East Germany. Following a year of imprisonment in 1976, she continued working in the GDR, combining photography, Super 8 films, painting, performance and independent publishing. Published on the occasion of her solo exhibition at Gropius Bau in Berlin, the monograph revisits a body of work that remained largely overlooked for decades.
