In the Mother Tongue by Lola Pertsowsky offers a fresh perspective on domestic life and the everyday. Photographed in her mother’s home, the series brings attention to the plants, animals and objects that coexist under one roof, from ants and flies to dishes, butter and smartphones. Rather than simply documenting, Pertsowsky seeks to create a connection with her subjects. Through repetition and careful observation, she invites us to reconsider the relationships between humans and the non-human world, and to learn new ways of seeing the familiar.
