#11 Standing Still - Morvarid K

Waalsekaai 59
2000 Antwerp
Belgium

Through the manipulation of photographic prints and organic matter, Morvarid K explores our perception of time and memory. Often working with the themes of nature and ecology, her artistic practice highlights presence through absence. The materials she employs anchors her work in reality, while transformative techniques add layers of complexity and depth, often through performative processes.

‘Standing Still’ draws inspiration from the way plants and trees exist in the world. According to Morvarid K, plants rooted in place, have no choice but to face the conditions around them, whatever they may be. This constraint leads them to develop a relationship with their environment that is radically different from that of the animal kingdom.
