Lebanese-American artist Walid Raad presents a selection of recent works inspired by four decades of conflict in the Middle East. Through photographs, collages, drawings, texts, sculptures and videos, he explores the connections between history, memory and art.
With the Festival d’Automne
His work focuses in particular on 1982–1983, a pivotal period marked by the Israeli occupation of Lebanon, the Sabra and Shatila massacres, and the PLO’s exile to Tunis. Combining archives, storytelling and fiction, Raad revisits this history and its contemporary echoes.
From Beirut to Tunis and Ljubljana, his works explore war, reconstruction and the history of art in the Arab world. During guided tours, Raad shares stories that are documented, transmitted or imagined.
