Light and Magic is the first major exhibition to explore pictorialism as a global movement. Bringing together over 200 rare prints by more than 80 artists from Seoul to Sydney, New York to Cape Town, and Brazil to Singapore, the exhibition examines how photographers became pioneers of the darkroom and transformed photography into an artistic medium. Featuring works from around the world alongside pieces from Tate’s collection, the exhibition offers a fresh and inclusive perspective on the history of photography and the artistic possibilities of image-making.
