People I Care About

Large Glass

Large Glass is thrilled to present Mario Cresci's second solo exhibition at the gallery. The exhibition comprises works created in Tricarico and Matera between 1966 and 1967.

Cresci spent much of the late 1960s, 1970s and early 1980s in Matera. During this period, southern Italy was attracting sociologists and intellectuals due to the writings of Carlo Levi and the anthropological research of Ernesto De Martino. These portraits are part of a significant body of work that documents this area and its people, as well as the artist's relationship with them.
