Open Space #19 Mohammad Alfaraj

Open Space #19 – Mohammad Alfaraj marks the Saudi artist’s first solo exhibition in a French institution at the Fondation Louis Vuitton. Titled I’d rather be a dragonfly than a lion, the site-specific installation brings together new videos, sculptures, drawings and photographs. Based in the Al-Ahsa oasis, Alfaraj draws on Saudi Arabia’s oral traditions, landscapes and everyday life to create poetic stop-motion narratives that he writes, produces and performs himself. Blending imagination, collective memory and the relationship between humans and nature, his work explores contemporary ecological, social and cultural issues with lyricism and simplicity.
