Silhouettes

Galerie Les filles du calvaire

Galerie Les filles du calvaire presents a new exhibition dedicated to the work of Charles Fréger at its space at 21 rue Chapon. Bringing together several series developed over recent years, Suite basque, Jeanne d’Arc, La Préhistoire, Normande and Souvenir d’Alsace, the exhibition explores the ways in which figures, traditions, and historical narratives shape collective imaginaries.

At the heart of this body of work, the silhouette becomes a space for projection: stripped of identifying details, the photographed figures appear as familiar presences, charged with memories and narratives. Charles Fréger thus examines the construction of images, their transmission, and the representations of identity they convey.
