Georges Perec: User’s Guide

The BnF presents a major exhibition dedicated to Georges Perec (1936–1982), one of the leading figures of 20th-century French literature and a prominent member of Oulipo. Bringing together nearly 300 items—including manuscripts, photographs, drawings, paintings and personal objects—the exhibition offers an exploration of his inventive and multifaceted body of work while revealing the man behind the writing.

Designed as a true “user’s guide,” the exhibition explores the major themes of Perec’s work, from Things and A Void to I Remember and Life: A User’s Manual. Playful and interactive, it highlights his fascination with literary constraints, experimentation and creative games. The exhibition also examines Perec’s lasting influence on contemporary artists and showcases lesser-known aspects of his artistic talent.
