Taryn Simon | Father Country I Do Love You premieres a monumental new body of work by artist Taryn Simon. Filling the entire rotunda of the Guggenheim Museum, the exhibition brings together never-before-seen photographs, text, videos, and sculptures in a singular interactive installation. Nearly a decade in the making, the project traces the life of an unnamed federal agent through 42 multipart “chapters,” exploring themes of duty, memory, loss, democracy, and the consequences of individual actions. The exhibition is the first monographic exhibition by a photography-based artist in the museum’s rotunda and the largest debut of new work ever staged at the Guggenheim.
