Exhibition
Self, Made: Fourteen Modern Artists from the Richard and Ellen Sandor Family Collection
Art Institute of Chicago
111 South Michigan Avenue
IL 60603 Chicago
United States
This exhibition explores stories of self-invention and individuality through photography, drawing and sculpture. It features artists who often worked outside the traditional gallery and museum system.
The works reflect the open-minded and egalitarian vision of Richard and Ellen Sandor, passionate collectors who gradually built a collection bringing together historical and contemporary artists, both celebrated and overlooked. Above all, they valued innovation, originality and a strong sense of individuality.
