From September 16, 2026, to January 10, 2027, the Musée du Luxembourg will present Andy Warhol. Line and Image, an exhibition exploring a lesser-known aspect of Andy Warhol’s work (1928–1987). Featuring nearly 150 drawings, along with paintings, screen prints, photographs, and archival materials such as scrapbooks and videos, the exhibition offers insight into an artist who continued to draw throughout his career.
Trained as an illustrator before becoming associated with Pop Art, Warhol maintained drawing as a core part of his practice. Before adopting screen printing, he used line to observe and reinterpret everyday subjects. Throughout his career, he returned to drawing, revisiting familiar motifs in more fluid compositions. The exhibition presents drawing as a key space in his creative process. Between 1963 and 1973, his graphic works engaged with painting and cinema, serving as a medium for experimentation and narrative exploration.
