The Musée Delacroix presents a display exploring works by Eugène Delacroix featuring animals, created on the occasion of the acquisition and conservation of two studies of horses. Shown publicly for the first time, these studies highlight Delacroix’s fascination with horses and animal anatomy. The exhibition examines how horses, lions, tigers, and other animals played a central role in his artistic practice, appearing throughout his paintings, lithographs, and decorative works. The display also explores the Romantic generation’s fascination with wildlife and movement. From 5 November 2026 to 3 January 2027, the museum will additionally present contemporary animal photography by Karen Knorr as part of the PhotoSaintGermain festival.
