Eco-Social Realism: Historic Mural Activations

1400 N. American Street, Suite 103
19122 Philadelphia
United States

Eco-Social Realism: Historic Mural Activations takes as its starting point four murals located in the neighborhood surrounding TILT that were created during the early years of Mural Arts Philadelphia. Inspired by these works, four Philadelphia artists were invited to develop activations engaging directly with the sites and surrounding communities, exploring the original murals’ meanings and their relevance today. Part of the broader Eco-Social Realism exhibition series, the project examines infrastructural and bioregional practices that help visualize and address the challenges of the climate crisis through contemporary art.
