Craft Professions in the Photographs of François Kollar

la bibliothèque Forney
24 Rue Pavée
75004 Paris
France

As part of the Bicentenary of Photography (2026–2027), the Forney Library presents an outdoor exhibition dedicated to the photographs of François Kollar (1904–1979), from September 3 to December 5, 2026. Taken between 1931 and 1934 for the book La France travaille, these photographs document France at work while offering sensitive portraits of its workers.

The exhibition explores the creative process behind craft professions, from drawing to manual or mechanical production. It features graphic arts (engraving and lithography), ceramic decoration, textile techniques (weaving, printing, tapestry and embroidery), and haute couture.
