Every Minute Is History: Five Views of Los Angeles

Getty Center, Museum West Pavilion, Lower Level
1200 Getty Center Drive
90049 Los Angeles
United States

This photography exhibition presents the work of five artists whose distinct approaches expanded traditional representations of Chicano/a communities in Los Angeles during the second half of the twentieth century. Featuring photographs by Laura Aguilar, Reynaldo Rivera, George Rodriguez, Patssi Valdez, and Ricardo Valverde, the exhibition explores influences ranging from social documentary and staged photography to fashion imagery and the popular press. Through their innovative practices, these photographers challenged conventions and offered new perspectives on identity, culture, and community in Los Angeles. The exhibition is presented in both English and Spanish.
