In the fissures of the Mediterranean landscape, immemorial times intertwine with the possibility of a future, but also a question: Is this where we lived? The question at the heart of Anne-Lise Broyer's long-term project underpins a geographical and historical dimension, as well as a secret memory. She answers it with a vast photographic series in muted gray that confronts imagination and reality: a portrait of a space in negative space. The Mediterranean serves as both viewpoint and perspective. The photographer stands at the heart of a transformed expanse, from this sea of narrative, of travel, this primordial, mythological sea, now a shroud.
