Norwegian artist Hariton Pushwagner (1940–2018) created a distinctive world combining modern life with dystopian visions of the future through drawings, paintings, prints and friezes.
The exhibition focuses on his early work from the 1970s to the 1990s, exploring his practice of reusing and transforming his own motifs. Drawing on popular culture, Pushwagner developed a science-fiction and comic-inspired visual language to critique the uniformity of modern capitalist society, from overcrowded cities to authoritarian regimes and technological warfare.
