The Acedia project by French photographer Louise Desnos is a visual exploration of laziness, fatigue, and intimacy.
The English word acedia refers to a state of profound boredom and apathy. With this project, the artist celebrates laziness, so often criticized in our contemporary societies, which are increasingly focused on productivity and constant self-improvement. Taking a stand against these incentives for performance and efficiency, Louise Desnos proposes rethinking laziness as a creative act and as a posture of resistance against alienation at work, relentless competition, and the consumerism of the capitalist system.
