Ecdysis confronts the shame and silence surrounding women’s blood politics across cultures and continents, alongside the transformative moments that accompany a girl’s coming of age. The book traces wounds carried across generations, including silence, suppression, and the ways bodies become sites of struggle, while also exploring the strength that emerges when that silence is broken. A major new essay by Poulomi Basu connects her own family history with the experiences of women she has worked with, examining how patriarchy, caste, race, and colonialism shape women’s lives.
