This exhibition is Wang Wusheng's first solo exhibition since his passing in 2018, showcasing his most representative black-and-white silver gelatin prints from the "Huangshan" series. These works, created between the 1970s and 1990s, encapsulate the artist's nearly one hundred trips to Huangshan over more than thirty years, as well as several years of darkroom developing and experimental work.
Since his first ascent of Mount Huangshan in 1974, Wang Wusheng regarded this mountain as the source of his lifelong creative inspiration. Although he lived abroad for many years, he always used his camera to watch over his homeland. As a key pioneer of black-and-white landscape photography in China, he reinterpreted the expressive spirit of traditional Chinese landscape painting through the language of black and white photography.
