New Eyes
New Eyes is an exhibition dedicated to a new generation of South African photographers. It presents the work of D.M. Terblanche, Karabo Mooki and Zwelibanzi Zwane, the inaugural recipients of the New Eyes Award, selected by a committee comprising Emilie Demon, Jabulani Dhlamini and Michelle Loukidis.
Through their distinct practices, the three artists offer contemporary perspectives on South Africa, its realities, narratives and imaginaries. The exhibition highlights emerging voices contributing to the evolving landscape of South African photography.
Presented in dialogue with Decisive Moment, the first major exhibition in South Africa of the Sony World Photography Awards, New Eyes brings into conversation the photographic excellence celebrated by one of the world’s most prestigious photography platforms with the perspectives of a new generation of South African photographers.
