Oded Halahmy: Models in Wood presents intimate wooden sculptures made primarily in the 1970s. Their forms evoke ladders, windows, family, ritual, and movement, reflecting the artist’s distinctive visual language rooted in memory and displacement. Born in Baghdad in 1938, Halahmy learned wood carving in his father’s goldsmith shop before moving to Israel and later to New York. Drawing on his Mesopotamian heritage, his work explores identity, memory, and cultural continuity.
