The mountains were the guiding thread of Charlotte Perriand's life, inspiring her throughout her extraordinary career—seventy years of activity! For this visionary of contemporary living, a precocious design talent, and an ecologist ahead of her time, no Parisian high life was worth a climb to Fontainebleau or a ski tour in the Vanoise massif. Already in the 1930s, alongside her work with Le Corbusier, she had become interested in mountain urban planning, accompanying the first steps of popular tourism in those high places then reserved for a privileged few.
