The body of works presented in Paris Photo is unpublished and is part of the "Crossfade" series that started in 2022. Nicolas Dhervillers decomposes the photographic medium by merging it with drawing.

The photographic print then seems to flow to the surface of the pastel as a reminiscence of an inaccurate image. It's quite real, however, since it comes from photographic archives initially drawn from anonymous photographers who traveled to the vast expanses of America from 1860 to 1880. Witnessing revolutions in progress (technological and industrial) that have an impact on changing the newly discovered territories, these images evoke a memory: that, universal, of the viewer who, in the face of the distant images, almost erased from the pastel printing process - sensorily close to the melted cinematic chain, remembers the upheaval that accompanied our European and anthropocentric beliefs.
