The fruit of ongoing research, Blank Memory uses the machine as an object and a system of thought to interrogate a widely distributed visual culture, that of a Californian imaginary shaped by photography, cinema and video games.
Since 2016, François Bellabas has been photographing and scanning California, creating and feeding his vast database of thousands of files, an accumulation that testifies to both a deep fascination and a widely shared sense of disquiet.
For his exhibition at the CPIF, François Bellabas' project takes the form of an installation combining photographs, sculptural pieces and interactive digital environments.
