With a single brushstroke, art can make appear and disappear simultaneously. The exhibited works capture the viewer’s gaze until they render invisible those who guard them. Lassana Sarre invites us to a reversal and a shift of attention. After having spent time with those who watch over the art center, the artist unveils a series of mural works or canvas pieces that, in painting, reveal the grand history of the caretakers of the place. Washes and layers overlap on the walls that protect them. They replay the rounds, the steps and the standing still, the beeps, the pauses, the shifts and the bursts, the secret stories, the solitary or shared meals, the furrowed brows, and the exchanged smiles.
