The next generation's responses to the pressures of the present are diverse. In 2024, the term "parasites" stands above all work, research, and experimentation. As an accusation from right-wing populist camps against artists and as an expression of deep incomprehension. With irony and intelligence/wit, the students of Ricarda Roggan's class at the Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart twist and turn the word until it loses its meaning. Their reactions and interventions are as multifaceted as our current reality is complex: Photography is used in analogue, digital and generated forms. It is expanded through performances and supplemented with sculptural objects.
PARASITES ! is part of the exhibition series "La jeune photographie allemande", which is organised annually by the Goethe-Institut Paris together with the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation.
