The selection of projects by students in the master's program in Photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, guided by Carlo Valsecchi, demonstrates how photography remains a permeable and flexible language, a perhaps vulnerable territory whose boundaries are difficult to define. But I would argue that this is nothing new compared to everything that, especially in recent years but not only, metagraphic and post-photographic research has sought to demonstrate, or at least suggest by expanding the very concept of photography. It is interesting, however, to understand how this linguistic flexibility supports very different research trajectories, tracing a panorama that is difficult to label. What emerges is a background noise that welcomes and imprisons other sounds, a multitude of acoustic deviations.
