The exhibition "Lisetta Carmi. Very near, incredibly far" will show at the Palazzo Ducale. A journey that starts from Genoa and Italy to tell with acute and lucid gaze distant realities and worlds in transformation. Genoa emerges in its unexpected facets, a city in which Lisetta Carmi has always printed and developed her images for the twenty years of her photographic career, telling from this place her vision of the world and of the people she chose to portray, like the famous photographs of the port, which will be accompanied by unpublished images of the registry office and the political and social life of the city. Also on display at Palazzo Ducale are the images from the series of 'I Travestiti' from the 1960s, which, published in 1972, caused a sensation and marked the photographic research of many international artists, and the unpublished series of the Staglieno cemetery, exuding eroticism and authoritarianism, in which the famous Genoese cemetery is transformed under the photographer's lens into a portrait of nineteenth-century bourgeois society and the eroticism associated with funerary monuments.
