UP Gallery
No.47-1, Ln. 53, Dongnan St., East Dist
Hsinchu City 300
This exhibition features works from three important series by the artist—"Who Loves the Sun" (2022–), "Nevertheless" (2009–2010), and "Form Lost, Emptiness Full" (2010–2015)—presenting Letinski's long-standing exploration of the political and poetic aspects of photographic imagery. Known for her unique still-life compositions, she challenges established conventions of representation through her work, shaking the authority of photography while embracing its captivating visual language.
Letinski's work views photography as a system of desire and part of a consumer mechanism. She once likened her relationship with photography to "Don Quixote against windmills"—resisting the dominance of the medium and its power to shape how we see, desire, and accumulate images and objects. However, within this tension, she continues to use photography as a vehicle for exploring visual pleasure and sensory experience.
