The photographic installation La Esposa Esposada - the Handcuffed Wife by Mexican artist Carmen Mariscal (1968), confirms the artist´s engagement in women’s issues which has been present in her work for the last twenty years.
The Spanish word 'esposa' (which means both wife and handcuff) is at the origin of this artistic proposal.
