Throughout his trilogy, Nakanishi has used his unique landscape photography techniques to capture the time and memories inherent in the land of Hokkaido. In "Oputateshike," he imagines Hokkaido before humans existed with photographs that seem to have been taken on another planet, while in "Land and Memory," he focuses on the Okhotsk people who migrated from the north, tracing their ruins and exploring the landscapes they would have seen.
