Fukase's Private Scenes '92 series involved photographing urban scenes with a Konica Big Mini without using the viewfinder, often including parts of his own body in the frame. He then painted over the prints with expressive watercolor strokes and sometimes added text. By incorporating his own body—his face, for example—into the frame, the relationship between Seeing and Being Seen, as well as between Photographer and Subject, becomes entangled and unstable.
