Something Like a Spider is an attempt to visualize the unthought thoughts we project onto so-called mad bodies. The psychiatric institution remains a separate place, stigmatized and stigmatizing. From the outside, it crystallizes inarticulate fears; within, the dysfunctions and neuroses of our society manifest themselves in an exacerbated way. Caught in this web, people suffering from mental disorders are subjected to aberrant treatments produced by the institutional system and to violent gazes, laden with fantasies—our own.
