The Musée National de la Marine in Paris offers a fascinating immersion in the maritime world from the second half of the 19th century to the present day, through a photographic exhibition: “Jean Gaumy et la mer” (Jean Gaumy and the Sea).
The exhibition highlights the work of a major figure in contemporary photography, a member of the Magnum Photos agency, the Académie des Beaux-Arts and the official painter of the French Navy. The first major exhibition of Jean Gaumy's maritime photographs, it features over 140 prints from the collection of the Médiathèque du patrimoine et de la photographie.
