This is a love letter, a conversation across space and time, meditation, and a poem of mourning. It is my way of processing the loss of one of the most influential and enduring relationships of my life. It is the culmination of a promise that I made to my Dad during our final months together. Alyssa Minahan has long explored the materiality and temporality of photography, working with themes of vanished traces and memory. Her book "Interlude", meaning an intervening period, serves as a tribute to her father, Mark Jaffe. Minahan prints her father's film and weaves it together with her own images, creating a dialogue between their perspectives. For the artist, this book is a promise: to affirm presence through photography and to remember the time shared with a loved one. Limited to 100 hand-bound copies, each book includes a unique darkroom print made by the artist from her father's film.
