Anna Scripcariu Ochiai has been exploring ways to establish roots in her two home countries, Japan and Romania, and has created works in various forms such as installations, photographs, videos, and paintings, all centered around the theme of "the connection between land and people." In this exhibition, she will present a collection of works captured on film during her year-long stay in Romania from December 2022, focusing on activities rooted in the land, people, beliefs, and nature.
While this work has previously been presented as an installation using slide projectors, this will be my first solo exhibition where I directly engage with photography.
Furthermore, the artist has conducted extensive cultural anthropological fieldwork in various locations both in Japan and abroad, focusing on traditional festivals and folk beliefs. In recent years, as an extension of this work, the artist has been working in the field of psychology, and will now be presenting a portfolio (a collection of five prints in a special box) of paintings that have been transformed into prints.
