For him, the gaze is not simply a physiological function. His photographs are the construction and capture of visions. Haunted by his dreams or phantasmagoria, reality for Juan Manuel Castro Prieto is always transfigured; in other words, he practices photography like a seer, reminiscent of Surrealist artists.
