How can change be made visible? Under the theme Metamorphosis. States of Change, eleven students of Visual Journalism and Documentary Photography at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hanover explore different forms of change, whether political, cultural, ecological or digital.
Referring to turning points in society and culture, political crises and conflicts, and transformations in ecosystems, the projects presented highlight the dynamics and origins of these changes. Through a variety of photographic strategies and approaches, the artists question fixed identities, linear narratives and apparent stability.
“Metamorphosis. States of Change” is part of the exhibition series ‘La jeune photographie allemande’, organised annually by the Goethe-Institut in cooperation with the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation.
