Hired to work on the set of around thirty films, Henri Caruel photographed Les Enfants du Paradis and Les Portes de la nuit by M. Carné, Falbalas by J. Becker, Premier de Cordée by L. Daquin.
Caruel is, at the time, the only one to take photographs in stereoscopy, allowing, thanks to a stereo viewer, the restitution of a 3D effect. His photographs remain a unique example in the late context of the 1940s and 1950s, moreover, during the Occupation.
