Dave Heath - Dialogues with solitudes
14/09/2018 - 23/12/2018
Le Bal
6, impasse de la Défense
75018 Paris
www.le-bal.fr
Neither documentary nor experimental, Dave Heath's (1931- 2016) photography is above all a way to attest to his presence in the world by recognizing in the other an alter ego absorbed in his torments. As early as the 1950s, he is one of the first to express so radically, particularly in his manifesto A Dialogue with Solitude (1965), the sense of alienation and isolation inherent to modern times. As the first major presentation of his work in France, the exhibition brings together about 150 vintage prints and original models. Organized with the support of the Stephen Bulger Gallery (Toronto), Howard Greenberg Gallery (New York) and Archive of Modern Conflict (London), it will result in a book co-edited by LE BAL and Steidl.
