Robert Morat Galerie presents photographs by American artist Bill Jacobson and drawings by Italian painter Giorgio Morandi. “Place (Series)” won Bill Jacobson a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2012. The American artist describes the images as “the result of inserting rectangles of various sizes and surfaces within both constructed and natural settings.” As opposed to the out-of-focus work for which Jacobson initially became known in the 1990ies, these photographs speak to the perceptual interactions with the physical world that surrounds us, in some cases strongly referencing the famous still life studies by Italian painter Giorgio Morandi.
