Galerie Rouge invites you to discover the work of Danny Lyon, one of the most important American photographers of the second half of the 20th century. A great admirer of Walker Evans and Robert Frank, he nevertheless distinguished himself by adopting an immersive documentary style akin to "New Journalism," the American literary genre of the 1960s and 70s. Danny Lyon immersed himself completely in the lives of his subjects, sometimes even becoming one of them. Far from being a pose, this physical and emotional closeness allowed him to access a certain "truth," essential to his work and its activist dimension. For Danny Lyon deeply believed in the power of photography to change political systems and, with them, human destinies.
