The new exhibition at Galleria Valeria Bella is a solo show by French photographer and video maker Benjamin Juhel.
Born in 1984 in Normandy, he lives and works between Bordeaux and California.
After studying at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Benjamin Juhel pursued his photographic and cinematographic research around the staged body. At the same time, he works for advertising and intervenes in photography in various structures.
The exhibition Alla Luce nella notte presents Benjamin Juhel's new series of images. Made in 2022 in California, the series evokes silence, absence and the long time that the night offers.
Taken at nightfall, when the streets darken and the interiors light up, these images tell of a muffled wandering in a zone of transition.
Maintaining a precise distance and form, Juhel offers a cinematic and vivid look at the urban territory.
Man never appears, yet his presence is felt in each of the images.
Lighted windows in cottages, parked cars, flashing traffic lights, illuminated signs, tangible signs of the passage of men and women that we can only imagine.
