Malick Sidibé - Mali Twist

20/10/2017 - 01/04/2018

Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain
261, boulevard Raspail
75014 Paris

In 1995, the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain presented the first solo exhibition of the Malian photographer Malick Sidibé ever held outside Mali.
A year after his death in April 2016, the Fondation pays him homage with an exhibition and a book dedicated to the artist, overseen by André Magnin in collaboration with Brigitte Ollier. Bringing together iconic works, unseen images, vintage photographs and archive documents, the exhibition immerses the visitor in the life and work of the man nicknamed ‘the eye of Bamako' for having captured the spirit of its residents and the ‘joie de vivre' of its youth with his unique style that is today recognised world-wide.
