Winner of the Prix de Photographie Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière Académie des Beaux-arts 2016 for his project Refuge, Bruno Fert will be exhibiting from 20 October to 19 November the work produced as part of the award all through this year. Refuge is essentially a portrayal of exile and migration. Bruno Fert combines photographs of the dwellings of migrants arriving in Europe alongside their testimonials and in some cases their portrait too. The photos of the landscapes traversed by these men and women punctuate this project realised in France, Italy, Greece and Germany at 12 sites consisting of camps, encampments and migrant accommodation. These photographs convey the extraordinary capacity of humans be they nomadic or settled to inhabit the place where they live and shine a light on a remarkable step in these unique journeys of a lifetime. This project was made possible thanks to the support of the NGO Me?decins Sans Frontie?res.
